December 2021. After hiding out for almost 2 years of this pandemic, it finally caught us. You were diagnosed with Covid on Thursday, 12/16 as party of weekly testing for school. You first complained of a soar throat and seemed tired, so I had kept you home from school that day, but then got a text in the morning saying your test from the day prior was positive. That meant that you, me & daddy had to hunker down in isolation for the next 10 days and that it would be a very cozy Christmas. Your Dad & I also got sick, but his symptoms were more mild than ours. For the first few days, it was really sad to watch you feelings so unwell. You complained of “an arrow” in your throat, mind and stomach and only wanted to sleep “on” me. Your fever would would spike suddenly for a few minutes, and then it would go away just as suddenly. You lost your appetite and were just really tired. It was really scary for me to watch, with so much unknown about how Covid affects different people and unsure of how it would affect you. Your body fought hard though, and within a few days you felt better but because we still had to quarantine were SO bored. I tried distracting you with all manner of baking projects, we watched LOTS of TV and mostly spent the days cuddling on the couch & napping. No one could come over for Christmas, so you me & daddy wore matching pajamas, watched movies and ordered Chinese food. Not the Christmas we imagined, but so glad we all got through it relatively easily! Before all that at the top of the month, things started out busy & good. We watched the holiday boat parade with Ondine & Kai from Grammy Bev Sue’s rooftop, you had playdates with your BFF Matilda and we went to eat at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey with Grammy Martha which you really enjoyed. It was not he December we envisioned, but we got through it and for that I am SO grateful.
