“Becoming” a mother… it’s happening in waves for me. Yes, I was a mother the moment you emerged, but the intricate relationship and knowing and love for you that began to form from that first breath, washes over me in waves with more intensity each day. You’re 8 months old now and have SUCH a sweet little spirit. Your laugh… man, I can’t articulate fully how full that little bell of a laugh makes my heart. You are definitely a girl who knows what she wants, and is not shy about making sure those around you know it too. You have your first two teeth, standing attention at the bottom of your little mouth and can now sit up from flat all on your own. You are super alert, always watching, super vocal and absolutely MUST taste test everything… Unless it’s the actual solid(pureed) food we’re trying to feed you, then you don’t really see a need for it. You have a new high chair aimed at making meal time a “thing” but still, you’re more interested in sitting in that chair and playing the top like a master percussionist ;). I know a love of food will come for you in time, but I’m nervously eyeing my “I’m gonna breastfeed until she’s a year old” timeline because you are still ALL about mamma being the moocow and that’s all you want at 8 months in. You got your first passport this month… now we need to plan an international trip and get you some stamps on it! We plan to make you a citizen of the world with experiences far and wide to give you a healthy appreciation for this world and it’s flavors. You really dig bath time and have begun to really show your power kicking skills whenever you’re in your tub … the bathroom needs a good mopping when we’re done with your nightly bath because of your love of splash, but it’s super cute and worth it. You got in a pool for the first time this month, with dad. He was SO excited to put you in the floaty he got you, but you were not as excited about it all… I think the water temperature had much to do with it so we shall have to try again when the 90 degree weather starts to hit. This month passed like a blur, but I have a feeling that’s just our new normal. You are growing more and better each day and I am so very excited to see what each day brings new for you. We love you much baby girl… happy 8 months!
